COFARMIN ASSOCIATE PARTNER NEEW Becomes a Facilitator for Promotion of Sustainable Conservation Agriculture in AARDO Member Countries
COFARMIN ASSOCIATE PARTNER NEEW is chosen as facilitator for promotion of sustainable agriculture via it’s Low Cost Organic Agriculture (LCOA) practices in all 31 member countries of Asian Rural Development Organization (AARDO). The member countries include 16 counties from Africa and 15 countries from Asia. The experts from NEEW were sent on a deputation to the Republic of Namibia for sharing their expertise on Low Cost Organic Agriculture (LCOA) with the local authorities of rural development. The experts conducted a “Train the Trainer program” for development processing packaging and use of LOCA inputs. The experts also prepared a detailed report on addressing the current challenges of the agriculture sector of Namibia through sustainable conservation agriculture.
COFARMIN ASSOCIATE PARTNER NEEW becomes member of “national technical committee” for promotion of conservation agriculture in the republic of Namibia
Subsequent to the week long extensive hands on training on the benefits of vermi composting & LCOA practices conducted by COFARMIN ASSOCIATE PARTNER NEEW in Namibia, in February 2017 as well as being associated with the Indian delegates from COFARMIN ASSOCIATE PARTNER NEEW during the Regional profiling visit, the officials of Ministry of Urban and Rural Development, Namibia proposed the formation of an “Low Cost Organic Agricultural (LCOA) Practices Technical Committee” whose objectives would primarily be to invoke sectoral level policies that promote sustainable agriculture initiatives as well as coordinated joint implementation thereof, in order to ascertain food security amongst rural and poor urban communities of Namibia.

COFARMIN ASSOCIATE PARTNER – Native Establishment of Empowered Women (NEEW) in collaboration with the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development (MURD) launched a vermi-composting training program at the UNAM, Neudaam campus, Namibia.
Hon. Sophia Shaningwa, Minister of Urban and Rural Development, at the official opening said “we are looking for an economically viable, socially and environmentally suitable alternative compared to destructive chemical fertilizers, that will not only maintain but also enhance production”.
She further stated that “these approaches are in the line with National goals of empowering our rural farming community and encouraging the promotion of rural agriculture and the use of natural and environmental soil nutrients”.
The training targets rural farmers and urban officials of various regional councils offices of Ministry of Urban and Rural Development, Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and farmers. The farmer would be able to increase the production without investing into chemical fertilizers and at the same time, cow dung will be put to better use in vermi-composting.

COFARMIN ASSOCIATE PARTNER – Native Establishment of Empowered Women (NEEW) had conducted a training program on “Development, Processing, Packaging and Use of Organic Compost in Namibia’s Khomas Region” which was well accepted by all the participants. Subsequently, a comprehensive report about the same was submitted by the experts to African Asian Rural Development Organization (AARDO).
Dr. Khushnood Ali, (Head, Research Division & Program Coordinator, AARDO) through his letter commended COFARMIN ASSOCIATE PARTNER NEEW’s efforts in these words, “Report is indeed very comprehensive, informative and most importantly useful for different institutions & authorities. NEEW’s efforts for successful completion of the assignment are highly appreciated.”
The report will be shared with other member countries of AARDO so that they benefit as well and possibilities could be explored to replicate it, wherever possible.

COFARMIN ASSOCIATE PARTNER NEEW had successfully conducted a practical training program on vermi compost making and low cost agricultural practices from 20th to 24th February 2017, for trainees of Ministry of Urban and Rural Development, Windhoek, Namibia.
Mr. Nghidinua Daniel, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Urban and Rural Development, Namibia, appreciated COFARMIN ASSOCIATE PARTNER NEEW’s practical training in these words “We thank you for making a difference in the lives of the Namibian rural farmers whose lives are bound to be transformed by the low cost and low input farming practices”.
COFARMIN ASSOCIATE PARTNER NEEW’s Practical training on Vermi Compost Making and Low Cost Agricultural Practices gets recognised by High Commission of India in Namibia
COFARMIN ASSOCIATE PARTNER NEEW had successfully conducted a week long practical training program on compost making and low cost agricultural practices, for trainees of Ministry of Urban and Rural Development (MURD), Windhoek, Namibia that encompassed development, processing and use of organic compost to enhance crop production and realise food self-sufficiency.
The event was also attended by the His Excellency Mr. Kumar Tuhin, who stated that the Government of India is committed to capacity building of Namibian officials and farmers in the field of agriculture.
